Children's Calendar Fall 2018 through May 12, 2019

Wednesday Evening Activities.  A family home-cooked meal will be served 5:30 – 6:15.  The is $3 person/$10 family.  Classes will be held 6:15 – 7:30.

Our main focus this year is Being a Servant for Christ.  Each week your child will participate in a lesson & project that unwraps what it means to be compassionate and shows them how to be a servant.

Each week your child will begin their class time with worship as they learn to praise God with their voices and possibly some learn some new dance moves.

Scripture should be part of every disciple’s daily life.  Even the littlest disciple can commit scripture to heart. Each week scripture activities will be done in hope to make scripture tangible for our kids.

Last but not least, the ULTIMATE goal is choosing to be a Christian, what that means, and how to be one.  This has so many moving parts to explore.  We are in for an exciting year watching our kids put together the moving parts and God’s pieces and follow HIM with joy.

Club 56 will be diving into a historical study on the book of Exodus.  They will spend each week seeking out evidence that the events in Exodus are real and seeing first hand that the words of the Bible are true and from God himself.

As the director of children’s ministry here at FUMC Canyon I am so excited you are checking out our activities for the children in your life.

– the name chosen to describe our children’s ministry.
As a follower of Christ, we are all called to be SEEKERS.  Psalm 105:4 tells us to “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face always in all things.”  We are called to be disciples and to transform hearts and lead others to Christ and teach them to seek God.  We strive to teach the children who come through our doors a solid, scriptural foundation they can use every day as they seek out a personal relationship with Jesus.  You and your child are personally invited to join us in this transformation into great Disciples of Christ.  As you continue to read this page, you will find a variety of activities for your child that we offer regularly to support the task God has set before us.

Please have a peace of mind knowing that we set standards very high for our leaders, volunteers, and nursery staff.  Your child will be cared for and nurtured by adults who have hearts for children, hearts for God, possess clear background checks, and pass our Safe Sanctuary training.  These last two provide the physical safety for you and your child. We constantly strive to provide to best we can offer!

SEEKERS:  Wednesday activities
Wednesday evenings offer fun Christ-centered fellowship for kids of all ages.  Each week the kids will engage in activities that encourage and challenge them to live each day as Christ would have us do.  They will experience the love of Christ through fellowship, prayer, and missions.  Excitement and the adventures of being a disciple will be discovered through games, science, and serving.

Is a group that provides this age group with life applicable lessons that are written specifically for them.  At this age, kids are so impressionable and they begin to seek out who they are and what they want in life.  We focus on every day living and what God expects from us.  We also have loads of fun with arts and crafts, drama, with games and fellowship.  The kids learn how to serve and help others with a servant’s heart while being in fellowship with Christ in the center.

3rd Grade Bible Study
The 3rd graders have a special study designed to teach them how to use their Bible and at the same time exploring the Old Testament. This is held during the spring semester at 5:00 pm on Wednesday evenings.

4th Grade Bible Study
The 4th graders will continue to learn about the Bible during the fall semester by exploring the New Testament.  This is held at 5:00 pm Wednesday evenings.

5th Grade Worship/Armor of God Study
The 5th graders spend approximately 8 weeks studying the armor of God, the Methodist hymnal, and what it means to worship and responsibilities of worship leaders.  The study is offered to all 5th graders in the fall Sunday evenings at 5:30.

6th Grade Confirmation
The 6th graders will go through an eight-week confirmation study that teaches the main tenets of our faith while strengthening their beliefs and relationship with Jesus Christ.  A t the end of their study they will be confirmed into the church. The study will be from 10:10-11:00am on Sunday's during the spring semester.
