As the director of children’s ministry here at FUMC Canyon I am so excited you are checking out our activities for the children in your life.

“Seekers”

– the name chosen to describe our children’s ministry.

As a follower of Christ, we are all called to be SEEKERS. Psalm 105:4 tells us to “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face always in all things.” We are called to be disciples and to transform hearts and lead others to Christ and teach them to seek God. We strive to teach the children who come through our doors a solid, scriptural foundation they can use every day as they seek out a personal relationship with Jesus. You and your child are personally invited to join us in this transformation into great Disciples of Christ. As you continue to read this page, you will find a variety of activities for your child that we offer regularly to support the task God has set before us.

Please have a peace of mind knowing that we set standards very high for our leaders, volunteers, and nursery staff. Your child will be cared for and nurtured by adults who have hearts for children, hearts for God, possess clear background checks, and pass our Safe Sanctuary training. These last two provide the physical safety for you and your child. We constantly strive to provide to best we can offer!

Kid’s Kingdom

Sunday Morning

Sunday School 10:10 – 11:00

Scripture based lessons and activities for children 3 years old – 6th grade. Nursery provided for infants – toddlers.

Nursery is provided during worship services for children 5 years and younger. We encourage and welcome children in the sanctuary for worship.

Seekers

Meet weekly on Wednesday evenings-during school year 6:15-7:30

-Nursery infants – 35 mos

-Cubs 3 & 4 year olds (pre-k age group and 5’s not yet in

kindergarten)

-K1 Kindergarten -1st grade

-234 2nd – 4th grade

-Club 56 5th-6th grade

Club 56 is a group that provides this age group with life applicable lessons that are written specifically for them. At this age, kids are so impressionable and they begin to seek out who they are and what they want in life. We focus on every day living and what God expects from us. We also have loads of fun with arts and crafts, drama, and media work. The kids learn how to serve and help others with a servant’s heart while being in fellowship with Christ in the center.

3rd Grade Bible Study

The 3rd graders have a special study designed to teach them howto use their Bible and at the same time exploring the Old Testament. This is held during the spring semester at 5:00 pm on Wednesday evenings.

4th Grade Bible Study

The 4th graders will continue to learn about the Bible during the fall semester by exploring the New Testament. This is held at 5:00 pm Wednesday evenings.

5th Grade Worship/Armor of God Study

The 5th graders spend approximately 8 weeks studying the armor of God, the Methodist hymnal, and what it means to worship and responsibilities of worship leaders. The study is offered to all 5th graders in the fall Sunday evenings at 5:30.

6th Grade Confirmation

The 6th graders will go through an eight-week confirmation study that teaches the main tenets of our faith while strengthening their beliefs and relationship with Jesus Christ. A t the end of their study they will be confirmed into the church. The study will be from 5:30 - 7pm on Sunday's during the spring semester.

Your child is a child of God and I invite them to join us. All adults are welcome to sit in with us as well as participate as a leader/volunteer. I’m always looking to add new faces to our children’s ministry team.
